What is the Registration deadline for my innovation idea?

  • From November 1, 2020 to February 28, 2021, participants are requested to register through our program website with a brief description of your innovation. You can update your submission till April 30, 2021 once registered.

Who can join the competition?

  • Anyone who has innovation ideas to benefit the public in good or a selective group of people

  • You can be an individual or a team of up to 6 persons.

  • You can be in any stage of innovation, including hatching an idea, bootstrapping, or just received investment.

  • There is no geographic restriction on where the participant(s) is located. A team may consist of multiple participants collaborating from different areas in the world. 

  • You can be a young professional, a high-school or colledge student, an entrepreneur, or an experienced professional. 

  • No geographic restriction on where the participant(s) is located. A team may consist of multiple participants collaborating from different states, different countries and regions, or even different continents.

What is the competition theme?

The innovation can be a concept related to any aspect of your life, including study and professional work, social life, interaction with all stakeholders in the society. Covid-19 related innovations are highly desired but not required. Covid-19 has transformed all aspects of people’s lives on an unprecedented scale and impacted every industry and every business. But the pandemic has amplifying innovations. You or your team’s goal is to develop innovative products, technologies, applications or processes to shape the future of what we live and strive to be. For example, there is an increasing need for building personalized yet shared virtual communities either in the workplace or social environment while in person interaction is minimized. More robots are undertaking new responsibilities to perform tasks that humans may be otherwise incapable of performing due to risk of exposure to Covid-19. Smart devices used for contact tracing, monitor patients or even manage data collection and analysis in healthcare. We have also seen digital applications that increase efficiency and improve user experience for supply chain and logistic services. Your innovation can be used for the industries such as transportation and logistics, robotics and automation, medical and life sciences, etc. for a meaningful purpose to benefit either the public in general or a selective group of people.      

How's the competition schedule?

The competition will last 7 months from November 2020 to May 2021. Registration starts on November1, 2020 and ends on February 28, 2021. Once registered, you have until April 30, 2021 to submit the detailed innovation plan or concept according to the deliverable standards determined by the organizer. Ten (10) projects will be shortlisted, Three (3) projects will be selected as finalists at a final award ceremony in May 2021.

What's the deliverable requirement for the competition?

  • A short video introduction of your product, application or technology, business ideas etc, maximum 5 minutes + any supplemental materials, detail guideline as below, 

  • For Category 1: Physical Product, Website / Mobile Applications

  • The video shall describe the product, website / mobile app., including but not limited to, what is it, why do you think it’s useful, what makes it novel, who can use it, when to use it, how to use it, etc.

  • The supplementary materials can include a product prototype, a user manual, design instructions, a business plan or anything else as appropriate

  •      

  • For Category 2: Intangible Technologies

  • The video shall describe the technology including but not limited to, what is it, why do you think it’s useful, what makes it novel, where it would be applied, etc.

  • The supplementary materials can include a word file of the technology introduction, a business plan or anything else as appropriate

  •  

  • For Category 3: Business process and any other business Innovation Ideas

  • The video shall describe the business process including but not limited to, what is it, why do you think it’s useful, what makes it novel, where it would be applied, etc.

  • The supplementary material can be a word file of the business process introduction, or anything else as appropriate

What's the judging criteria?

  • Innovation (50% of score) -- What makes the idea novel? Does it represent an important advance over the current practice or state of the art?

  • Manufacturability / Feasibility (25% of score) -- How easy would it be to implement / apply? Can it be cost-effectively manufactured/produced/applied?

  • Marketability (25% of score) -- Does the idea have practical applications? Is there a well-defined, significant market for its use?

Any tips for submission entry?

Your innovation can be used for the industries such as transportation and logistics, robotics and automation, medical and life sciences, etc. for a meaningful purpose to benefit either the public good in general or a selective group of people by:

  • Increase the efficiency or improving productivity

  • Reducing the communication barrier

  • Improving quality of life

  • Improving the accessibility of information or data to help decision making

  • Automating tedious tasks or procedures

  • Improving public safety and security

  • Reducing consumption of time, money and other resources

  • Creating job opportunities

  • Enabling other product or process improvements
